Authorship

All authors, in order to receive credit as such, must have contributed substantially to the following aspects or categories within the research:

  1. Study conception and design
  2. Collection, analysis and interpretation of data
  3. Elaboration of the draft (first version)
  4. Critical revision of the article with important contributions to its intellectual content
  5. Approval of the final version to be published
  6. Others considered relevant

All authors are responsible for the integrity and quality of the article submitted and eventually published. Authors who do not fall into these categories may be mentioned in the acknowledgements. Generally, neither the collection of data nor the contribution of funds can be considered exclusively for crediting authorship.

 

Declaration of the authors' contribution

Authors should state explicitly in this letter the contribution of each one to the research.

As an example, the contributions can be described as follows, according to the previous categories:

  1. (Name and surname) and (Name and surname) designed the study, analyzed the data, and prepared the draft
  2. (Name and surname) was involved in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data
  3. All authors reviewed the writing of the manuscript and approve the version finally submitted

All those who contributed to the article but who do not fit the above-mentioned categories of authorship or whose contributions were not sufficient to be credited with authorship can be indicated in the Acknowledgements, explaining the type of contribution made.
